Introduction
In presenting the family tree and other information on this ‘WoodLooker’ private website many interlinked pages and files are involved. Therefore when any new information becomes available requiring update on the website of the Wood descent chart in its webpage version and equivalent PDF file those two files have to be edited. The PDF file entails a two stage process as it needs to be created (and adjusted) from a Word DOC file in which the new data has been first entered. Then the family data in an alternative form of the ‘Dynamic Family Tree’ is made by use of a special software program which compiles the data (into five separate compressed files for upload to the website) from a genealogical GED file to create the Javascript dynamic functioning of the DFT. That ‘GED’ file is exported from a Genealogical database into which the new information has been entered. By the way, because it is a dynamic representation of an original database, the DFT can provide much more information about persons than can be presented on the more simple descent chart — for the database/DFT can have notes attached to the individuals providing more information than simple dates of birth/marriage/death. But when those modified files have been uploaded to the website it is not necessarily all that needs to be done — for example, if the new information related to Jordan families then the webpage and PDF file devoted to the Jordans also has to be updated.
It will be appreciated therefore, on considering the above description, that keeping ‘WoodLooker’ updated can very time consuming. Thus in October 2006 a ‘final’ version of the family descent charts, Dynamic Family tree, etc on WoodLooker has been placed online, and then updated in May 2008. Future updating of new information about Wood related families will be made available in the form of simple text on this ‘Addendum’ page below.
When anyone has new information of births, marriages and deaths, in their extended contemporary families, or new data from genealogical research of ancestors, then please send it to Patricia Button or Rupert Wood. Such contributions will then be put into this Addendum in the order in which it would fit into the ‘Descendancy Chart’ of Richard Wood, with the new information being shown in a maroon colour.
